We generate our own electricity with solar panels. This helps us reduce our ecological footprint and contribute to a cleaner future.
We collect rainwater and use it for our washing machine, toilets, and vegetable garden. This reduces our water consumption and promotes sustainable use of natural resources.
Our solar water heater uses solar energy to heat water when the sun shines. This is an efficient way to save energy and protect the environment.
We encourage our guests to use precious energy sparingly. Here are some tips and information to help minimize energy consumption during your stay:
**Lighting**: Turn off lights when you leave the room.
**Heating**: Use the radiators and pellet stove efficiently and close doors and windows to prevent heat loss.
**Water Use**: Limit the use of hot water and do not let the tap run unnecessarily.
**Toilets**: Our toilets have two flush options: a small flush for liquid waste and a large flush for solid waste. This helps save water.
**Bathroom Bins**: Use the bins next to the toilets for waste and do not flush pads, tampons, or packaging to avoid clogs.
Our chickens provide us with delightful companionship and fresh eggs, and they help reduce food waste. Additionally, we compost organic waste, which is used in our vegetable garden.
We produce as little waste as possible and carefully separate it to promote recycling and responsible waste management. There are clearly marked bins in the holiday home for paper, plastic, glass, organic waste, and residual waste. Good waste separation keeps the amount of residual waste limited.
Our central heating system uses sustainable wood pellets. This is an environmentally friendly option that helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We have an organic vegetable garden where no pesticides are used. This ensures healthy, natural vegetables, fruits, and herbs that we grow with love and care.
Our green garden is a versatile area rich in natural beauty and ecological diversity. Enclosed by natural chestnut fencing, it features an expansive lawn, a summer flower meadow, various types of trees, borders with native plants, shrubs, fruit trees, and a variety of small fruits. This diversity provides a home for a wide range of insects and birds, contributing to high biodiversity. Our garden proudly bears the “Réseau Nature” label from Natagora, recognizing our commitment to a sustainable and natural environment.
We are big fans of local products and short supply chains, and we work closely with local suppliers. This applies to everything from the maintenance of our heating system to purchasing bread, flour, cheese, sweet spreads, apple juice, beers, wines, ciders, and other local products. Whenever possible, we make our purchases by bike, which helps reduce our ecological footprint and supports the local economy.
Through all these measures, we aim to have a positive impact on the environment and offer our guests a sustainable stay. Together, we can make a difference!
